In the split second that I had to realize I was falling, my first expectation was that I wouldn’t be waking up at all. If I did, however, I figured I’d probably be caught in a ruthless undertow, a swirling mass of water and current that would leave me with absolutely no means of saving myself from the dark, unyielding depths.

The first thing that I feel is a soft lapping of warm, calm water as it soothes my aching body. My head hurts, but not nearly as badly as I’d expect after a fall like that. I slowly open my eyes.

“Hi there.” Says a man with sandy blonde hair. He sits across from me, next to five others in a deep pool of water on the edge of which I rest. The depths below them swirl with the same blue and green light that I’d seen in the waves, and it casts a flickering glow on what I now realize are cave walls around us. The cavern is small, but large enough to move about in freely, and covered in smooth grey walls.

“Hi?” I respond, the word tumbling out of my mouth as more of a question than an answer.

I sit up on my elbows and look across the pool at them; both intrigued and completely confused. The men are all absolutely gorgeous, their upper torsos all perfect specimens of fitness and health.

“I’m Arozen.” Says the blonde man.

“Jillian.” I tell him, my head throbbing.

“You had quite the fall out there on the rocks. How does your head feel?”

I reach up and touch the spot that aches and throbs, running my fingers across the skin to see if there is a bump. Surprisingly, everything seems just fine, and the less groggy I become the more the pain seems to slip away.

“It’s alright.” I tell him. “Could be worse.”

“We’re here to help you feel better.” Arozen says.

I pause for a moment, wondering what exactly he means by that and suddenly very intrigued. My heart starts to race as my eyes drift from one ripped chest to the other, briefly catching the flirtatious looks that are being cast my way.

It’s only then that I realize the same song from before is still playing in my head. The beautiful melody is on loop, stuck like a record as it fills me with a strange sense of calm and, dare I say, arousal.

“Make me feel better?” I ask them wearily. “I’d like that.”

Arozen nods, a smile creeping across his face as two of his friends swim across the pool towards me, ending up on either side. They hoist themselves out of the water.

I stifle scream.

The guys may have flawless upper bodies, but below there bellybutton is something out of a fairytale. The soft peachy skin quickly gives way to light green scales that form into one long, muscular tail that splashes the water with a wide, strong fin attached at the end.
